Job Description
The Staff Photonics Engineer at Aurora will design and develop integrated photonic devices and systems, collaborating with foundries and cross-functional teams to ensure process compatibility and successful integration into larger modules for autonomous vehicle and sensing applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design passive and active photonic devices using advanced modeling and simulation tools
- Translate schematic designs into physical layouts through Python-based layout scripting
- Collaborate with foundries to ensure process compatibility and facilitate successful tapeouts
- Define and interpret metrologies to validate process integrity and correlate with PIC performance
- Develop and implement wafer-level and die-level test plans
- Support cross-functional product teams in integrating photonic integrated circuits (PICs) into larger modules or subsystems
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in physics, electrical, or computer engineering or relevant fields
- At least 3 years of research or industrial experience with integrated photonics chip design
- Fundamental understanding of electronics, optics, and integrated photonics
- High proficiency in Python or similar object-oriented programming languages
- Ability to design passive and active photonic devices using advanced modeling and simulation tools
- Ability to translate schematic designs into physical layouts through Python-based layout scripting
- Ability to collaborate with foundries to ensure process compatibility and facilitate successful tapeouts
- Ability to define and interpret metrologies to validate process integrity and correlate with PIC performance

- Ability to support cross-functional product teams in integrating PICs into larger modules or subsystems

Salary range: $181,000 - $290,000 per year
