Job Description
The Software Engineer II will develop vehicle models, build simulation pipelines, and analyze data to validate and improve the safety and performance of Aurora's self-driving vehicle software, operating at the intersection of machine learning, control systems, and vehicle dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop vehicle models for simulation and control scenarios
- Design and implement data pipelines to generate and analyze simulation scenarios from logs
- Create and maintain software pipelines to convert on-road events into reproducible simulations
- Build data structures and algorithms to categorize control scenarios and ensure comprehensive dataset coverage
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience with a focus on data-intensive applications or machine learning.
- Strong proficiency in Python including libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch or similar machine learning frameworks.
- Experience working with large datasets, SQL, and data processing pipelines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable engineering insights.
- Background or interest in Control Theory or Vehicle Dynamics understanding of kinematics, kinetics, and actuation.

Base salary range: $126,000 - $181,000 per year
