Job Description
The Senior Staff TLM Electrical Engineer at Aurora leads the development and integration of electronics for LiDAR systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance hardware solutions for autonomous vehicle technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of electronics for Aurora's internal LiDAR program.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to gather requirements and define hardware architecture.
- Build, integrate, test, and debug LiDAR electronics on the bench and in systems.
- Develop and mature electrical engineering processes to meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Partner with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to ensure electrical designs are ready for manufacturing.
- Support test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets.
- Define build and test procedures and oversee product launch activities.
- Manage project deliverables in coordination with program management.
- Identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes in collaboration with supply chain and NPI teams.
- Plan and develop team hiring and training strategies to meet future product roadmaps.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering.
- 10 years of experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware.
- At least 4 years of direct personnel leadership experience managing electrical engineering teams, including hiring, establishing best practices, managing performance, and supporting team growth.
- Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high-speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics.
- High proficiency in analyzing systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI/EMC constraints.
- Extensive experience with hardware productization at system, board, and chip level implementation.
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage Power Signal simulation and emulation input.
- Proficiency with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and electronic loads.
- Ability to analyze and design for safety, execution, and quality requirements, including maturing processes for electrical engineering product development that adhere to safety, execution, and quality standards.
- Partnering with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature high-quality electrical designs to manufacturing, including supporting test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets.
- Partnering closely with program management to manage project deliverables.
- Partnering with supply chain and new product introduction teams to identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes.
- Planning and promoting a forward-looking outlook to hire and develop the team to meet future product roadmap requirements.
