Job Description
The Senior Staff TLM at Aurora is responsible for leading the development of scalable, reliable mapping storage systems that support autonomous vehicle operations, overseeing technical strategy, and managing a team of engineers to deliver high-performance backend solutions for the Aurora Atlas platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-impact engineering team focused on developing scalable mapping storage systems.
- Define the technical strategy and product roadmap for mapping storage solutions.
- Oversee the execution of development milestones for mapping systems.
- Lead technical initiatives and architectural decisions within the mapping domain.
- Develop a scalable, high-throughput HD Map storage ecosystem utilized across Aurora's operations.
Requirements
- Proven manager comfortable leading people while remaining deeply technical and delivering impact.
- Strong background in server-side infrastructure, data processing, and distributed database systems.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems principles, with a proven ability to architect and deliver scalable, reliable backend systems.
- Solid programming proficiency in C and working knowledge of Python and Go.
- At least 8 years of total experience, with 2 years in management leading complex projects in critical production environments.
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to excel when faced with ambiguity across multiple stakeholders.
- Track record of leading teams of strong engineers to solve difficult technical challenges.
