Job Description
The Senior Manager of Release Management at Aurora is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software releases for autonomous driving systems and connected services, ensuring timely, high-quality, and reliable software deployment across a fleet of vehicles while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute software releases for autonomous driving systems and connected services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality software delivery.
- Define and drive the vision, requirements, and roadmap for the safety-critical software release process and infrastructure.
- Implement and champion release process improvements, tooling, and communication strategies.
- Guide release managers through CI, simulation, testing, validation, and deployment processes.
- Track and ensure software releases pass testing, verification, and validation to reach an approved, stable state.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align release schedules and communicate release status.
- Support incident management, rollback planning, and release readiness reviews for production deployments.
Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience in software release management or release engineering for complex systems with both software and hardware components.
- Experience operating at the intersection of product delivery, customer needs, and release management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with experience tracking releases through development, test, and deployment phases.
- Experience with continuous integration and release automation systems such as Buildkite and GitHub.
- Experience orchestrating cross-team efforts to address bugs and issues to resolution.
- Communication skills suitable for a broad range of audiences including executives, individual engineers, larger technical teams, operations teams, and external partners.
- Experience supporting incident management and rollback planning related to software releases.
