Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer at Aurora is responsible for developing and integrating electronics for custom hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance and manufacturing requirements, and supporting product launch and testing processes in the autonomous vehicle industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electronics for Aurora's custom hardware systems.
- Gather requirements and define hardware architecture in collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Build, integrate, test, and debug electronic systems using software tools and advanced test equipment.
- Partner with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature electrical designs for manufacturing.
- Support test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets.
- Define build and test procedures based on product development expertise.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering.
- At least 4 years of experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware.
- Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics.
- High proficiency and ability to analyze systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI/EMC constraints.
- Extensive experience with hardware productization at the system, board, and chip level implementation.
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage Power Signal simulation and emulation input.
- Experience with lab instruments including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and E-loads.
- Ability to build, integrate, test, and debug electronics on the bench and in systems, leveraging software tools and advanced test equipment.
- Partnering with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature high-quality electrical designs to manufacturing, including supporting test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets.
- Define build, test, and have extensive prior experience launching electrical products.
- Knowledge of automotive requirements, safety framework ISO26262, and qualification processes.
- Experience with both rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing.
- Programming and scripting skills in C, Python, or equivalent languages.
- FPGA and ASIC design experience.
