Job Description
The Remote Assist Specialist at Aurora is responsible for monitoring autonomous vehicle fleets, troubleshooting software and operational issues, providing real-time feedback, and supporting testing and safety protocols to help develop and improve self-driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor fleet operations and respond to trigger requests from autonomous vehicles.
- Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles during testing scenarios.
- Identify root causes of system triggers and provide actionable feedback to engineering teams.
- Conduct application testing of Aurora's software tools and platforms.
- Perform storm searches to identify flaws and improve testing workflows and SOPs.
- Log real-time performance data and anomalies for analysis.
- Escalate operational issues with suggested solutions while ensuring safety compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology and operational changes.
- Engage with stakeholders and represent Aurora professionally during testing and interactions.
Requirements
- Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations
- A mindset that views a system failure or a bug as a successful data point that makes the fleet safer
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to spot subtle anomalies in telemetry that others might miss
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic, best-path decisions proactively in high-pressure situations
- Ability to remain unfazed by rapid pivots and thrive in environments where the plan evolves based on real-time data
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback to cross functional stakeholders
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a 5-year driving history, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings
- Availability to work rotating shifts including early mornings, late nights, or weekends with 2 weeks’ notice and regular overtime as needed
- Proficiency in G-Suite and the ability to learn new, proprietary software applications rapidly
- Interest in technology tools, apps, gaming, flight simulators, or command-line interfaces that require high spatial awareness and multi-tasking
- Experience working in a team environment where team success is the priority (preferred but not explicitly mandatory)
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $31.00 - $46.00 per hour, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and equity compensation
Work schedule: 4x10 schedule, Thursday to Sunday, rotating shifts including early mornings, late nights, or weekends with 2 weeks' notice and regular overtime as needed
