Job Description
This internship offers hands-on experience in hardware engineering for autonomous vehicle technology, involving work on sensor systems, mechanical and electrical components, and embedded software development to support the Aurora Driver's safety, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and package hardware components such as sensors, computers, and controllers into platforms that meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to inform hardware design through data analysis and testing.
- Design, analyze, and validate mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical hardware components from concept to vehicle integration.
- Work on autonomous navigation sensor technologies, including lidar and advanced sensors.
- Rapidly prototype hardware architecture solutions across multiple domains, including power, networking, and control systems.
- Create applications for custom hardware devices, ensuring system safety and performance through robust software development.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, and returning to a degree-granting program after the internship concludes Summer Fall 2026.
- Prior experience or coursework in at least one of the following areas: hardware design, embedded systems, robotics, mechanical design, thermal analysis, controls, power electronics, sensor technologies like Lidar or Radar, or data analysis using Python and SQL.
- Interns must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship, and Aurora does not offer J-1 visa sponsorship for interns.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $49.00-$58.00 per hour depending on degree level and location
