Job Description
This internship offers hands-on experience in hardware engineering for autonomous vehicle technology, involving work on sensor systems, mechanical and electrical components, and embedded software to support the development of self-driving systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate hardware components such as sensors, controllers, and computers into the Aurora Driver system.
- Analyze test data using data processing techniques to inform hardware design and performance improvements.
- Design, analyze, and validate mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical hardware components from concept to vehicle integration.
- Contribute to the development of autonomous navigation sensors like lidar and advanced sensor technologies.
- Solve cross-domain hardware engineering problems involving electrical, mechanical, and embedded software systems through rapid prototyping.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, and returning to a degree-granting program after the internship concludes Summer Fall 2026.
- Prior experience or coursework in at least one of the following areas: hardware design, embedded systems, robotics, mechanical design, thermal analysis, controls, power electronics, sensor technologies like Lidar or Radar, or data analysis using Python and SQL.
- Interns must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship, and Aurora does not offer J-1 visa sponsorship for interns.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $44.00 to $58.00 per hour depending on degree level and location
