Job Description
The Electromechanical Engineering Technician at Aurora will build and assemble self-driving vehicle technology, including wiring harnesses and mechanical components, while collaborating with engineering teams to support research and development in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and assemble Aurora's self-driving vehicle technology, including vehicle build, sub-assembly, PCBA solder rework, and harness build.
- Collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering and related teams to ensure quality and functionality.
- Follow safety standards and meet internal project deadlines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work, fixtures, and processes.
- Operate electrical and mechanical tools to test, diagnose, and repair harnesses and mechanical assemblies.
- Design parts and fixtures to aid in fabrication and assembly processes.
- Support and maintain equipment, implement upgrades, and troubleshoot technical issues.
Requirements
- Candidates must possess minimum 10 years of direct experience in automotive, trucking, or prototyping spaces.
- Candidates must possess minimum 5 years of direct experience in harness fabrication using 1 1 form boards and various tooling in R D and prototype spaces.
- Candidates must have strong electrical skills, including the ability to read wiring schematics and layouts, redline drawings, and communicate with EDS design engineers.
- Candidates must have a strong understanding of electrical tools and equipment such as crimpers, dies, multimeters, presses, connectors, contacts, wire gauges/types, soldering equipment, and microscopes.
- Candidates must demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship with the ability to pin out and quality test harnesses.
- Candidates must have deep knowledge of automotive and trucking systems, tooling, and mechanical assemblies.
- Candidates must have strong mechanical skills, including the ability to read schematics and layouts and assemble mechanical systems.
- Candidates must have experience with instrumentation such as thermal test setups, fluid dynamics, air pressure, load cells, etc.
- Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and self-awareness.
- Candidates must have the ability to problem-solve, diagnose, analyze, and isolate problems rationally.
- Candidates must be proficient with Windows and Google productivity Suite, specifically Sheets.
- Candidates must be able to work independently and in a team environment, approaching work proactively and with a willingness attitude to solve problems and support peers.
- Candidates must be able to multitask under pressure in an unstructured environment.
- Candidates must have proficiency with Windows, Mac, or Linux operating systems.
- Candidates must have experience with Jira, Confluence, ERP, PLM, CAD, and various other software tools.
- Candidates must be familiar with CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or Catia.
- Candidates must be able to read and comprehend engineered drawings.
- Candidates must be able to design parts fixtures to aid in fabrication and document fixtures, designs, and processes created in the machine shop for archival purposes.
Benefits & Perks
The base salary range is $37.75 to $56.75 per hour.
