Job Description
The Director of Survey at Atwell, LLC is responsible for leading survey projects, managing client relationships, overseeing project execution, mentoring team members, and contributing to business development efforts within the surveying and engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute annual survey project management plans
- Collaborate with clients and management to define project objectives and create proposals
- Negotiate and secure contractual agreements with clients
- Manage project invoicing, accounts receivable, and financial alignment
- Foster internal communication and information sharing across teams
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and address concerns
- Support business development through marketing, presentations, and proposal follow-ups
- Maintain accurate project documentation and utilize web-based collaboration tools
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members professionally
- Ensure project inputs meet quality standards and industry best practices
- Stay updated on industry trends through professional development activities
- Achieve performance targets related to project chargeability, revenue, and invoicing
- Apply survey and engineering concepts independently as needed
- Organize project teams, assign responsibilities, and coordinate with sub-consultants
- Analyze project data and trends to meet project objectives
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and expenditures
- Report project outcomes and insights to management for continuous improvement
- Work with stakeholders to define project timeframes, budgets, and staffing
Requirements
- Proven experience in survey project management and leadership roles.
- Ability to independently apply fundamental survey and engineering concepts as needed.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with strong listening abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and ability to contribute to business development efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as surveying, engineering, or similar; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Professional licensure certification in surveying, engineering, or related field.
