Job Description
The Senior Energy Analyst supports decision analysis for energy project development by modeling power market fundamentals, providing forecasts, and delivering insights to aid investment, operational, and strategic decisions within the power industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead forecast development for specific US ISO power markets to support decision-making.
- Perform quantitative analysis and deliver timely results to clients.
- Provide expertise in analytic modeling for revenue forecasts, asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration.
- Develop innovative approaches to represent results for decision analysis.
- Summarize complex market data into clear reports and presentations.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of power market operations to inform critical decisions.
- Serve as a technical resource for software scoping, building, deployment, and launch activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as economics, engineering, or energy; advanced degrees in these fields are preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in a power electricity focused role with a utility, consulting firm, government agency, financial institution, or non-profit.
- Strong analytical skills in analyzing and explaining complex data related to power markets.
- Demonstrated track record of working effectively with clients and team members.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, teamwork skills, organization, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem solve with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with the energy industry and understanding of the physical and financial structures that govern it.
- Proficiency with analytic software programming languages such as R, Python, or other similar languages.
- Knowledge of wholesale power market structures and value streams.
- Understanding of deregulated power market operations and/or Distributed Energy Resources (DER) programs.
- Ability to assimilate complex information into clear reports and presentations.
- Experience with power modeling software such as PROMOD, PLEXOS, Aurora, PSSE, or PSO is strongly preferred.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $80,000 - $95,000 for Energy Analyst, $95,000 - $125,000 for Senior Analyst, negotiable based on qualifications and experience
