Job Description
The Senior Energy Analyst supports decision analysis for renewable energy and battery project development, providing expertise in electricity market modeling, asset valuation, risk management, and market operations to help clients optimize energy assets and strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quantitative analysis and deliver results to clients
- Model electricity markets to support trading activities
- Provide expertise in asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on market strategies
- Support real-time market operations and system reliability
- Develop innovative approaches to represent analysis results for decision-making
- Create reports and presentations from complex data analyses
- Perform in-depth analysis of power market operations
- Solve complex analytic problems to inform energy supply decisions
- Serve as a technical resource for project scoping, deployment, and launch activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, or energy.
- At least 1 year of prior experience in energy analysis or related field.
- For Senior Analyst position: a total of 5 years of prior work experience in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit organization, focusing on energy.
- Understanding of energy modeling systems and methods.
- Command of wholesale power market structures and value streams.
- Proficiency with fundamental modeling of electricity markets to support electricity trading.
- Ability to provide clients with expertise in analytic modeling for asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration.
- Ability to monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on market operations and strategies.
- Ability to assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations.
- Strong analytical skills in analyzing and explaining complex data.
- Demonstrated track record of working with clients and teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, teamwork skills, organization, and work ethics.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem solve with minimum supervision.
- Availability to participate in on-call rotations to support real-time market operations and ensure system reliability.
- Proficiency with analytic software programming languages such as R, Python, or other languages (preferred).
- Master's or advanced degrees in economics, engineering, and/or energy (strongly preferred).
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: 80,000 - 95,000 for Energy Analyst, 95,000 - 125,000 for Senior Analyst, negotiable based on qualifications and experience
