Job Description
The Senior Energy Analyst supports decision analysis for renewable and battery project development, providing expertise in electricity market modeling, asset valuation, risk management, and energy trading to help clients optimize renewable energy integration and market strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quantitative analysis and deliver timely results to clients
- Model electricity markets to support trading activities
- Provide expertise in asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration
- Analyze energy commodity trading and market operations
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on market strategies
- Support real-time market operations and system reliability through on-call rotations
- Develop innovative approaches to represent analysis results for decision-making
- Create reports and presentations to communicate complex information clearly
- Conduct in-depth analysis of power market operations to inform critical decisions
- Serve as a technical resource for project scoping, deployment, and launch activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, or energy.
- At least 1 year of prior experience in energy analysis or related field.
- For Senior Analyst position: at least 5 years of prior work experience in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit organization, focusing on energy.
- Understanding of energy modeling systems and methods.
- Command of wholesale power market structures and value streams.
- Proficiency with fundamental modeling of electricity markets to support electricity trading.
- Ability to provide clients with expertise in analytic modeling for asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration.
- Ability to provide clients with expertise in energy-related commodity trading, energy markets quantitative analysis, electricity market operations, and power structuring.
- Monitoring regulatory changes and assessing their impact on market operations and strategies.
- Ability to assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations.
- Strong analytical skills in analyzing and explaining complex data.
- Ability to solve complex analytic problems to make mission-critical decisions for energy supply.
- Ability to serve as a technical resource for scoping, building, deploying, and launching activities.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations to support real-time market operations and ensure system reliability.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, along with teamwork skills, organization, and work ethics.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem-solve with minimum supervision.
- Proficiency with analytic software programming languages such as R, Python, or other languages (preferred).
- Previous experience in project management (considered a plus).
- Knowledge of deregulated power market operations (considered a plus).
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: 80,000 - 95,000 USD for Energy Analyst, 95,000 - 125,000 USD for Senior Analyst, negotiable based on qualifications and experience
