Job Description
The Senior Energy Analyst supports decision analysis for renewable energy and storage projects, providing expertise in electricity market modeling, asset valuation, risk management, and regulatory impacts to help clients optimize energy assets and market strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quantitative analysis and deliver results to clients
- Model electricity markets to support trading activities
- Provide expertise in asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on market strategies
- Support real-time market operations and system reliability through on-call rotations
- Develop innovative approaches to represent analysis results for decision-making
- Create reports and presentations that simplify complex information
- Analyze power market operations to inform critical energy supply decisions
- Serve as a technical resource for project scoping, deployment, and launch activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, or energy is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of prior experience in energy analysis is required.
- For Senior Analyst position, a total of 5 years of prior work experience in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit focusing on energy is required.
- Understanding of energy modeling systems and methods is required.
- Command of wholesale power market structures and value streams is required.
- Demonstrated track record of working with clients and team is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, teamwork skills, organization, and work ethics are required.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem solve with minimum supervision is required.
- Strong analytical skills in analyzing and explaining complex data are required.
- Proficiency with fundamental modeling of electricity markets in support of electricity trading is required.
- Provide clients with expertise in analytic modeling for asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration is required.
- Provide clients with expertise in energy-related commodity trading, energy markets quantitative analysis, electricity market operations, and power structuring is required.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on market operations and strategies is required.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support real-time market operations and ensure system reliability is required.
- Devise new approaches to represent results that support decision analysis is required.
- Assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations is required.
- Perform in-depth analysis of power market operations is required.
- Solve complex analytic problems to make mission-critical decisions for energy supply is required.
- Serve as a technical resource for scoping, building, deploying, and launch activities is required.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation: 80,000 - 95,000 USD for Energy Analyst, 95,000 - 125,000 USD for Senior Analyst, negotiable based on qualifications and experience
