Job Description
A legal counsel position focused on drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts related to renewable energy projects, providing legal advice on business transactions, managing disputes, and supporting the company's development and operation of renewable energy facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and manage engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, equipment supply agreements, and other procurement-related contracts.
- Advise management on business transactions involving customers, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Manage upstream and downstream contract risks across multiple projects.
- Assist and represent the company in contract negotiations with business partners.
- Advise on claims and disputes with subcontractors, suppliers, and other partners.
- Participate in resolving complex legal issues related to contracts and projects.
- Manage outside legal counsel and consultants.
Requirements
- Juris doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one United States jurisdiction.
- A minimum of two years of legal experience.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts such as engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, capital equipment procurement agreements, or power purchase agreements.
- Demonstrate sound oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and an ability to fulfill leadership responsibilities assigned.
- Strong understanding of the laws in areas of expertise and proficiency in their interpretation and application.
- Experience managing commercial disputes.
- Possess effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Must be able to handle heavy workload, critical time constraints, multiple project responsibilities, and continually changing priorities.
- Some travel may be required.
