Job Description

A Tax Manager in Construction at Aprio will lead tax planning, compliance, and consulting services for construction industry clients, helping them maximize opportunities and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations within a fast-growing, innovative CPA and advisory firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee construction industry tax engagements for clients
  • Provide tax planning and consulting services specific to construction companies
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations related to construction industry
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and strategies for construction clients
  • Coordinate with clients and team members to gather necessary information for tax filings
  • Review and prepare tax returns and related documentation for construction clients

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in tax with a focus on construction industry clients.
  • Have a CPA license or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws applicable to the construction industry.
  • Show experience in managing and reviewing complex tax returns and related compliance for construction clients.
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to provide tax planning and consulting services to construction industry clients.
  • Have the ability to interpret and apply tax laws and regulations relevant to the construction sector.
  • Possess effective communication skills to clearly explain tax issues and strategies to clients and team members.
  • Be proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree or additional certifications (such as MST or EA) are preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Have a thorough understanding of construction industry-specific tax issues, including cost segregation, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Be willing to participate in business development activities, including assisting with client proposals and presentations related to construction tax services.
