Job Description
A Senior AI Research Engineer in Visual Perception will work on advancing robot autonomy by evaluating and developing cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and sensing technologies, designing experiments, building prototypes, and contributing to the strategic technology roadmap for autonomous mobile robots in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate cutting-edge AI, machine-learning, and sensing technologies for robot perception and planning.
- Design proof-of-concept experiments and build research prototypes.
- Assess new technologies and transfer promising ideas to product teams.
- Shape the technology roadmap to ensure solutions are robust and reliable.
- Collaborate with engineers and partners on research and development efforts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in evaluating cutting-edge AI, machine-learning, and sensing technologies from novel perception to advanced planning, with the ability to assess their suitability for real-world deployment challenges.
- Ability to design proof-of-concept experiments, build research prototypes, and transfer promising ideas to product teams in a research and development environment.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with engineers and partners in assessing new technologies and integrating solutions.
- Experience in shaping technology roadmaps and guiding long-term strategy to ensure solutions are robust, reliable, and ready for impact.
- Hands-on experimentation skills and a passion for discovery in robotics and AI research.
- Educational background in a relevant field such as Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines (implied by the research and prototype development focus).
