Job Description
The Senior Associate at Acumen Latin America will be involved in sourcing, evaluating, and supporting early-stage impact investments in underserved communities, working closely with entrepreneurs and portfolio companies to drive social and financial impact across various sectors in Colombia and Latin America.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and build a pipeline of investment opportunities aligned with Acumen's thesis.
- Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, and valuation analysis on potential investments.
- Prepare investment materials and recommendations for the Investment Committee.
- Support the full investment lifecycle from sourcing to closing and disbursement.
- Engage with entrepreneurs and rural enterprises to understand business models, risks, and impact potential.
- Provide operational and strategic support to portfolio companies post-investment.
- Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, management teams, and external stakeholders.
- Track and analyze financial and impact performance of portfolio companies.
- Contribute to internal portfolio analysis, reporting, and external communications.
Requirements
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, impact investing, or related fields.
- Strong financial, analytical, and business judgment, including experience evaluating early-stage or growth-stage businesses.
- Experience conducting due diligence, financial modeling, and supporting transaction execution.
- Ability to operate with independence, attention to detail, and strong execution in fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an authentic ability to build trust with entrepreneurs, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interest in working with underserved communities, particularly in rural contexts.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Authorization to work in Colombia on a permanent basis.
