Job Description
A Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for designing mechanical packaging, thermal management, and cooling solutions for high power electronics used in renewable energy and energy storage systems, from concept through production, ensuring compliance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical packaging, structural parts, and cooling solutions for high power electronics systems
- Create and manage CAD drawings, BOMs, and support documentation such as FAI, ECOs, and MCOs
- Perform DFM and DFA analysis in collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers
- Develop and validate thermal and mechanical concepts through lab testing
- Analyze and optimize cooling solutions including heatsinks, fans, heat exchangers, and liquid cooling components
- Coordinate with hardware, compliance, reliability, and manufacturing engineers to meet product specifications and standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with CAD systems with minimum 2 years Solidworks experience
- Good knowledge of 3D modeling and generation of CAD drawings
- Experience in bringing a product to mass production and support for it
- Experience in thermal design in FEA software to include conduction, convection, and fluid dynamics for both air and liquid-cooled solutions
- Good knowledge of heatsinks, fans, heat exchangers, liquid cooling, and cold plates design
- Capable of managing suppliers, vendors, and prototyping shops
- Ability to perform DFM DFA analysis, both internal and with external suppliers
- Ability to create structural designs for mechanical packaging and related mechanical parts including PCBA design supports
- Ability to generate drawings and take care of BOMs, FAIs, ECOs, and MCOs
- Experience working with hardware, compliance, reliability, and NPI engineers to meet electrical parameter targets, compliance, quality, reliability, and manufacturing requirements
- Experience performing mechanical and thermal tests in the lab to validate concepts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work in a fast-paced environment
