Job Description
The role involves leading power marketing strategies for renewable energy assets, including originating, structuring, and managing transactions in wholesale markets to maximize revenue and support the company's clean energy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute trading, hedging, and dispatch strategies to maximize revenue from solar and battery assets across various markets.
- Originate and negotiate power purchase agreements, tolling agreements, hedge products, VPPAs, RECs, and resource adequacy contracts.
- Monitor and analyze market fundamentals, congestion dynamics, price curves, and regulatory changes to inform trading decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project siting, contracting strategies, and financial modeling.
- Support financing activities by providing revenue assumptions, merchant risk analysis, and offtake strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, Energy, or related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in power marketing, energy trading, origination, or wholesale market analytics.
- Experience working within or alongside RTO ISO markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, or SPP.
- Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, nodal pricing, battery dispatch economics, and renewable contract structures.
- Proven track record of executing or supporting power transactions.
- Experience in developing and executing trading, hedging, and dispatch strategies to maximize revenue from solar and BESS assets in day-ahead, real-time, ancillary service, and capacity markets.
- Ability to evaluate merchant opportunities and develop Go-To-Market strategies for contracted and uncontracted assets.
- Experience originating and negotiating PPAs, tolling agreements, hedge products, VPPAs, renewable energy certificates (RECs), and resource adequacy contracts.
- Ability to collaborate with utilities, offtakers, traders, and financial counterparties to secure long-term revenue contracts.
- Experience structuring short- and long-term transactions that align with risk management goals and market conditions.
- Monitor energy market fundamentals, congestion dynamics, price curves, nodal behavior, and regulatory changes across RTO ISO markets.
- Analyze forward curves, LMP forecasts, basis spreads, and storage value-stacks to support trading decisions.
- Produce internal reporting on market conditions, revenue performance, and portfolio risk.
- Work with Development, Finance, and other teams to inform project siting, contracting strategies, and financial models.
- Support financing activities by providing revenue assumptions, merchant risk input, and offtake strategy for greenfield and operational assets.
- Proficiency in power market tools.
- Ability to structure and negotiate power transactions that meet risk management and market objectives.
