Job Description
The Head of Vice President of Pre-Construction Project Delivery will lead the pre-construction phase of renewable energy projects, overseeing activities from late-stage development through construction, including strategy, contracting, risk management, and cross-functional portfolio delivery for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all pre-construction activities from late-stage development through construction mobilization.
- Establish and manage project readiness standards for successful transition to EPC execution.
- Develop scalable pre-construction processes supporting portfolio growth.
- Oversee constructability, execution planning, and delivery strategy across projects.
- Manage EPC engagement strategy, including contracting approach, bid evaluation, scope alignment, and negotiations.
- Support structuring of cost-effective and risk-balanced EPC agreements and procurement packages.
- Validate project CAPEX estimates, lead value engineering initiatives, and identify execution risks.
- Ensure schedule realism and constructability prior to Final Investment Decision.
- Serve as primary interface across cross-functional teams including Development, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and Construction.
- Support transition from pre-construction into active construction, maintaining continuity and implementing best practices.
Requirements
- 10 to 15 years in renewable energy project execution or delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership advancing utility-scale solar and or BESS projects from development into construction.
- Experience managing portfolios totaling GW-scale deployment.
- Deep expertise in EPC contracting negotiations.
- Experience leading pre-construction activities from late-stage development through construction mobilization.
- Ability to establish and manage project readiness standards ensuring successful transition to EPC execution.
- Experience developing scalable pre-construction processes supporting multi-GW portfolio growth.
- Overseeing constructability, execution planning, and delivery strategy across projects.
- Partnering with legal and commercial teams to structure cost-effective and risk-balanced EPC agreements.
- Supporting contracting of major equipment and long-lead procurement packages.
- Owning project CAPEX validation and estimate accuracy prior to investment approval.
- Leading value engineering initiatives to improve project economics and delivery certainty.
- Identifying execution risks across engineering maturity, supply chain, permitting, and logistics.
- Ensuring schedule realism and constructability prior to Final Investment Decision.
- Serving as primary interface across Development, Engineering, Finance, Investment Committee, Supply Chain, Construction, and Asset Management to provide executive guidance on delivery strategy across the project lifecycle.
- Supporting transition from pre-construction into active construction execution and partnering closely with Project Management teams to maintain continuity from contracting through build.
- Implementing best practices to improve delivery outcomes, partner performance, and portfolio scalability.
