Job Description
The Manager, IT Engineering at Samsara will lead a growing team in India, overseeing the development and implementation of IT automation and SaaS solutions to enhance operational efficiency. This role involves managing technical projects, supporting business technology applications, and driving innovation within the IT engineering process.
Responsibilities
- •Supervise the IT engineering team in India, overseeing critical IT automation, AI, and DevOps projects
- •Evaluate, innovate, develop, and implement internal SaaS Engineering automation systems and AI projects
- •Provide performance management support and review for direct reports
- •Serve as the domain expert on implementation, management, and support of Business technology products and IT applications
- •Develop metrics and dashboards for operational performance reporting
- •Stay updated with industry trends and evaluate their impact on the application landscape
- •Manage technical requirements gathering and contribute to backlog grooming
- •Integrate and implement best practices and DevOps methodologies in IT engineering processes
- •Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles
Requirements
- •A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, engineering or related field
- •10 years of experience in an IT Engineering role, with at least 3 years of managing small teams
- •6 years experience in software development and infrastructure
- •Related experience in architecture, design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems, applications and major SaaS solutions
- •Strong experience working with APIs in Javascript, Node.js, Python or Go
- •Strong expertise in AWS and GCP cloud platforms
- •Exposure to scale in a SaaS-first IT environment including Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, Zoom, Github, Zendesk, etc.
- •Strong experience with Terraform
- •Experience with containerization tools, including Docker
- •Solid understanding of source code versioning and exposure to Git, GitHub
- •Must be detail oriented, self-organized, be committed to quality and capable of tracking multiple work streams simultaneously
- •Ability to work in a fast-changing, dynamic, and agile environment, including the ability to manage time and maintain an excellent work ethic
- •Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
