Job Description

The Sales Engineer at Samsara will work collaboratively with a diverse team to provide technical solutions related to IoT technology for customers in various industries, focusing on logistics, fleet management, and system integration. This role involves understanding customer needs, delivering technical demonstrations, and supporting sales efforts to drive digital transformation in physical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Become an expert on Samsara products and technology.
  • Articulate how businesses use Samsara to solve industry challenges.
  • Deliver work products such as discoveries, demos, and proof of concept implementations.
  • Partner with sales executives to execute transactions in rapid sales cycles.
  • Write scripts against the open API to solve real-world problems.
  • Act as a consultant to customers for integration, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Liaise between product and sales teams, translating technical feedback.
  • Take ownership of SE Desk processes including demo assignment and ticket response.
  • Match customer goals and requirements to proposed solutions.
  • Support onboarding and mentorship of Level 1 SEs.
  • Qualify, install, and configure Samsara hardware.
  • Conduct SaaS dashboard setup and demonstrate advanced use.
  • Create custom reporting and integrations via the API.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree from a 4 year accredited university.
  • 1 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales or support capacity.
  • Previous hands-on experience with customer evaluations, deployments, or technical troubleshooting.
  • A proven ability to work on complex technical problems and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Well versed in one of the following: cloud software, networking, hardware systems (e.g., sensors, devices, vehicles), automation and control systems.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
  • Experience with the following concepts: technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation and control systems.
  • Must be located within and authorized to work in the United States, and within the Pacific or Mountain time-zone.
