Job Description
The Senior Director, Federal Pursuit and Capture is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of federal business development activities, overseeing capture and pursuit efforts, and managing a team to achieve revenue growth. This role requires expertise in federal contracting and a strong ability to develop strategic plans while fostering team performance and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the overall capture and pursuit strategy for federal business development.
- Oversee the identification, qualification, and prioritization of new federal business opportunities.
- Set high-level strategies for individual pursuits, including win themes and competitive analysis.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of capture managers and business development staff.
- Oversee resource allocation across multiple pursuits to ensure project success.
- Set clear performance goals for the pursuit and capture team and monitor performance.
- Partner cross-functionally to align capture strategies with organizational priorities.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance pursuit, capture, and proposal processes.
- Represent the federal capture function with executives and provide updates on key pursuits.
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior-level federal agency officials and industry partners.
- Identify and establish partnerships and teaming agreements with industry partners.
- Provide strategic oversight for high-value or complex proposals.
- Oversee market analysis, competitor assessments, and industry trend research.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and manage access to key contract vehicles.
Requirements
- 5 years of people leadership experience with the ability to attract and build high performing teams.
- 10 years of experience in federal capture management, business development, or related roles.
- Extensive knowledge of federal procurement processes, contract vehicles, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record in leading large, complex capture efforts and achieving high win rates.
- Strong executive leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to develop and execute high-level strategic plans.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with federal clients and industry partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
