Job Description

The Consulting Associate position at Charles River Associates is an entry-level role for candidates with a postgraduate qualification in economics, where they will work closely with senior consultants on high-profile competition cases in Europe, conducting analyses, assembling evidence, and assisting in client deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential issues and conduct analyses to illustrate economic arguments
  • Assemble evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and business recommendations
  • Program, build models, and perform regression analyses using statistical analysis programs
  • Assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers
  • Communicate complex economic concepts to clients in an understandable manner
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions
  • Participate in practice-building activities such as training and recruiting

Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in economics (MSc or MPhil) from a well-regarded institution.
  • Up to 3 years of relevant work experience within consulting, business, or with a competition authority.
  • Strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialism in industrial economics.
  • High degree of numeracy and some comfort with data manipulation.
  • Ability to program, build models, and perform regression analyses in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, Python, or R.
  • Experience with large data projects requiring the use of cloud computing.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with clients and communicate complicated economic concepts and arguments to non-experts in an understandable manner.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
