Job Description

The Mechanical Drafter Designer supports the Zeeco Boiler Burner team by creating detailed 3D models and drawings using Autodesk Inventor and Vault, collaborating with engineering staff to develop equipment designs that meet project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 3D models and 2D drawings of parts, assemblies, and products using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Analyze project mechanical specifications to design appropriate equipment.
  • Assist engineering team with equipment selection, confirmation, and design.
  • Manage models, assemblies, and drawing revisions using Autodesk Vault.
  • Perform arithmetic computations and interpret engineering instructions for design accuracy.
  • Make simple revisions to existing drawings based on verbal instructions.
  • Ensure all required drawings meet project specifications and standards.
  • Review customer mark-up prints and address comments.
  • Visit shops and travel as needed to support design changes and assist with production guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Design, or equivalent experience
  • Must have experience with Autodesk Inventor preferred or similar CAD software
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Foxit PDFs
  • Minimum of 5 years drafting and design experience
  • 10% travel expected for shop visits and project assistance
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to design standards
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and engineering instructions
  • Makes arithmetic computations using standard formulas
  • Assist engineering team with confirmation of equipment selection and design
  • Produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for parts, assemblies, and complete products, including sectional views, intricate features, hidden details, and nonstandard geometries
  • Use Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault to manage models, assemblies, and drawing revisions
  • Assist project engineer in ensuring all required drawings are completed and meet project requirements
  • Assist with reviewing customer mark-up prints and disposition of comments
  • Analyze project mechanical specifications requirements to design appropriate equipment for the application
  • Simple revisions to existing drawings may be assigned with a verbal explanation of desired results
  • Shop visits and travel to assist with design changes as required per the project and to assist shop personnel with guidelines for production of equipment
