Job Description
A Senior Combustion Engineer responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and providing engineered solutions for fired equipment in the oil and gas industry, while supporting customer relationships, technical training, and business development efforts globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and assess the mechanical integrity, operational suitability, and remaining life of fired equipment such as furnaces, heaters, boilers, flares, and incinerators.
- Identify equipment failures and malfunctions, develop engineered solutions, and review maintenance work and spare parts strategies.
- Conduct preliminary surveys of heaters and furnaces, generate pre-turnaround reports, and support commissioning activities including startup assistance.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive customer solutions and facilitate customer training and educational sessions.
- Visit clients to troubleshoot equipment, gather market intelligence, support quote clarifications, and help secure sales orders.
- Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and technical assistance at customer facilities.
- Deliver technical presentations and training to customer groups, and provide feedback for product and process improvements.
Requirements
- Technical or engineering qualification required.
- Extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Proven experience with combustion fired equipment is essential.
- Mechanical or process engineering background preferred.
- Experience in commissioning or field activities highly valued.
- Strong relationship building skills and confidence in customer interactions.
- Proactive self-starter able to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong troubleshooting and lateral problem solving abilities.
- Willingness to go the extra mile for customers.
- Ability to travel internationally, including to remote or challenging locations.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong presentation skills, including comfort presenting to large audiences.
