Job Description

The Senior ROW Agent is responsible for negotiating land access and rights-of-way for geothermal exploration and development projects, focusing on transmission lines, and collaborating with landowners and internal teams to ensure timely and compliant site control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in securing site control for greenfield prospecting, exploration, and development work.
  • Negotiate with landowners to acquire access for field operations and exploration teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and landowners to ensure timely land acquisition within budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with private landowners and partners through honest face-to-face engagement.
  • Conduct land right-of-way acquisition, title research, due diligence, land valuation, and contract negotiations.
  • Work with federal and public land processes, including ownership reports, legal and lease agreements.
  • Support project development and community engagement related to land and right-of-way activities.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates must have five years of land work experience at either an oil and gas, minerals, utilities or renewable energy company, with an emphasis on negotiating transmission or pipeline right-of-way.
  • Candidates must have proven experience negotiating land deals with private landowners for resource exploration, development, and or operation phases.
  • Candidates must have experience in land work for both public and private lands.
  • Must have experience working with chains of title, ownership reports, legal and lease agreements, and other ownership or regulatory documents.
  • Must have 5 years of right of way or applicable land work, which can include land right-of-way acquisition, title research, due diligence, land valuation, contract negotiations, project support, and or community engagement.
  • Membership in the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) or International Right of Way Association (IRWA) is required.
  • Land Certifications such as Right of Way Agent (RWA) equivalent or higher, or Registered Landman (RL) equivalent or higher, are preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to remote areas.
  • Excellent time management and travel planning skills.
  • Proven negotiation experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Resilience to being in remote locations on your own.
  • Understanding of Chain of Title and Surface Rights.
  • Ability to build key relationships with private landowners, emphasizing honest dealings and face-to-face engagement.
