Job Description

The Water Wastewater O M Project Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, managing staff, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring system optimization and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations.
  • Manage a team of 7 union employees ensuring safe and efficient system operation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations, maintenance, clients, contractors, and engineering firms.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and client reporting requirements.
  • Implement and manage asset management, repair, and replacement projects.
  • Respond to emergencies including process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events.
  • Manage SCADA system operations and CMMS administration.
  • Develop and track project budgets to ensure financial oversight.

Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant post-secondary education or certifications related to water or wastewater treatment is preferred.
  • Experience overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including lift stations.
  • Experience managing a staff of at least 7 union employees in operational and maintenance roles.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
  • Experience ensuring system operation and optimization, including staff development and implementation of asset management programs.
  • Proven ability to administer and manage routine and capital repair and replacement projects.
  • Experience responding to emergencies such as process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
  • Experience managing and operating SCADA systems.
  • Experience managing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and experience preparing compliance reports for regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Ability to develop, track, and manage project budgets.
  • Demonstrated safety management skills, including adherence to health and safety programs.
  • Ability to perform administrative duties related to water and wastewater treatment operations.
  • Physical ability to oversee operations which may include site inspections and emergency response activities.
  • Eligible to participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program to confirm employment eligibility.
