The Water and Wastewater Project Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of water and wastewater systems for the Adelanto Public Utility Authority, managing staff, projects, and emergency responses to ensure system efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise daily operational and maintenance activities of the water treatment and distribution system.
Oversee regulatory sampling programs and ensure compliance with all regulations.
Coordinate and communicate with staff, clients, regulators, contractors, and engineering firms to optimize system operation.
Develop and implement predictive maintenance programs and manage routine and capital repair projects.
Respond to emergency events, process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events.
Prepare reports for regulators, clients, and the firm regarding system performance and compliance.
Manage project budget, scope, and schedule, serving as the main point of contact between the client and the firm.
Requirements
Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience managing water and wastewater treatment and distribution systems, including operational and maintenance activities.
Experience overseeing a team of at least 11 staff members responsible for water system operations, maintenance, and compliance.
Ability to manage all associated regulatory sampling programs and ensure compliance with relevant regulations in a safe and timely manner.
Proven ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, regulators, contractors, and engineering firms.
Experience in system operation and optimization, staff development, and implementing predictive maintenance management programs.
Ability to administer and implement routine and capital repair and replacement projects for water and wastewater systems.
Experience responding to emergency events, process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
Ability to prepare reports for regulators, clients, and the firm on operational status and compliance.
Experience managing project budgets, scope, and schedule of contractual obligations.
Serve as the main point of contact between the client and the firm, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable and dependable attendance, with availability for standby duty and being on-call, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Willingness and ability to respond to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.
Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal daily supervision.
Possess a relevant educational background, such as a degree in engineering, science, or a related field (implied but not explicitly stated).
