The Water Treatment Operations Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant, including monitoring equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to emergencies to ensure high-quality drinking water compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the water treatment plant, wells, pumps, and motors as directed by the Project Manager.
Monitor the treatment process daily to ensure equipment performance and water quality compliance.
Respond to emergency or unpredictable situations, including shift work during evening hours.
Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment, including new equipment related to capital projects.
Assist in ensuring the water treatment process meets regulatory standards through lab testing and process controls.
Maintain the operation and upkeep of the water treatment plant, related facilities, and grounds.
Requirements
Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant facility wells, pumps, motors, etc., as directed by the Project Manager.
Respond to emergency or unpredictable situations as required.
Work a second shift schedule from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am on rotating days and weekends.
Possess the ability to monitor the daily treatment process and ensure all equipment is performing optimally to maintain high-quality drinking water standards.
Participate in the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant, wells, buildings, and grounds.
Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
Possess the ability to learn and perform preventive maintenance on new equipment, including a new clarifier and replacement of existing equipment.
Be capable of working in a physically demanding environment, including responding to emergencies and unpredictable situations.
Be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of the schedule.
Be able to perform lab tests and process controls to ensure water treatment complies with Missouri Department of Natural Resources standards.
Be able to operate and maintain treatment equipment such as lime softening systems, sodium hypochlorite disinfecting systems, aqua ammonia secondary disinfection systems, and fluoride addition systems.
Have the ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
