Job Description
A Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating wastewater treatment systems, performing laboratory tests, collecting samples, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient and compliant treatment processes at a state-of-the-art facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Control the processing of wastewater and effluent
- Regulate influent and effluent flows within the system
- Monitor the operation of wastewater treatment plant equipment
- Assist with basic laboratory testing and sample collection
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment
Requirements
- Possess a Grade 3 State of California Wastewater Treatment License in order to operate independently at the wastewater treatment facility.
- Minimum of a Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Operator certification or license.
- Work experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, including controlling the processing of wastewater and effluent, monitoring influent and effluent flows, and operating wastewater treatment plant equipment.
- Ability to assist with basic laboratory testing, sample collection, and perform related operational duties as assigned.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in support of the wastewater treatment plant.
- Work schedule of four 10-hour shifts from 6am to 4pm, Sunday through Wednesday, after onboarding and training.
- Work rotating standby on call, including weekends, with a $200 stipend provided for on-call time.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn and perform a variety of operational duties under supervision, including regulating influent and effluent flows and monitoring equipment operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, protecting natural water resources.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to wastewater treatment operations, including sample collection and equipment monitoring.
