The Lead Water Wastewater Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing plant processes, and leading operational staff to maintain efficient and safe plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control water and wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment, including SCADA automation.
Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Operate, maintain, and perform routine repairs on plant equipment, including preventive maintenance.
Conduct daily operational checks at multiple water and wastewater facilities to ensure safety, regulatory, and performance compliance.
Lead and train operational and maintenance staff, providing guidance to improve efficiency.
Recognize deviations in plant operation and adjust processes and equipment to maintain quality standards.
Test and measure plant parameters such as pH, chlorine residuals, temperature, and solids, making operational adjustments as needed.
Collaborate with maintenance staff on projects and adjust or bypass equipment to ensure treatment consistency and safety.
Oversee emergency generator and auxiliary equipment operation, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Ensure plant operations remain in compliance with all federal, state, county, and city regulations and standards.
Requirements
High School Degree or Equivalent.
Valid Florida Driver's License required.
Must possess at least a valid State of Florida Class C Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Class C license.
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in Wastewater Plant operations with management experience.
Ability to make sound decisions in process control and follow instructions, as well as following safety procedures.
Ability to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
On-call incentives: $200 per week on rotation, minimum 2 hours paid per call out
