Job Description
The Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants in compliance with environmental regulations, troubleshooting operational issues, performing routine equipment repairs, and supporting plant safety and efficiency in a rotating shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the wastewater treatment plant in compliance with environmental regulations
- Perform daily rounds and monitor plant operations
- Assist with equipment repairs and troubleshoot operational issues
- Maintain plant grounds and perform cleaning tasks such as pressure washing, sweeping, and shoveling
Requirements
- Operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in compliance with applicable local, state, and Federal environmental requirements.
- Perform daily rounds of the wastewater treatment plant to monitor operational conditions.
- Assist with equipment repairs, troubleshooting, and correcting operational problems at the wastewater treatment plant.
- Maintain safety and compliance standards while performing plant operations.
- Complete grounds keeping activities including pressure washing, light painting, sweeping, cleaning, and shoveling as part of job duties.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and legal holidays, with scheduled days off (eight days on, six days off schedule).
- Work 10-hour days on weekdays and 12-hour days on weekends and holidays during scheduled shifts.
- Possess the physical ability to perform tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, and cleaning as required by the job.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (implied as a minimum educational requirement for operational roles).
