Job Description

The Drinking Water Treatment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment facilities, ensuring the delivery of safe, treated water to the environment, while performing technical and physical tasks such as testing samples, servicing equipment, and maintaining the facility. The role offers on-the-job training and opportunities for career growth in the water treatment field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water treatment process equipment
  • Test and process samples in the laboratory
  • Input data into plant databases
  • Service and troubleshoot plant equipment
  • Perform general maintenance, housekeeping, and groundskeeping
  • Support the study and attainment of water treatment certifications

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid water treatment operator license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe, with support provided for studying and certification.
  • Full-time, year-round availability to work at the facility in Cohasset, Massachusetts.
  • Responsibility for the full-time operation and general maintenance of the facility's Water Treatment process equipment.
  • Ability to perform testing and processing of samples in the laboratory as part of daily tasks.
  • Ability to input data accurately into plant databases.
  • Capability to service and maintain plant equipment.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks such as snow removal, housekeeping, and groundskeeping.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks related to water treatment operations and maintenance.
  • Commitment to full compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Availability to work a schedule that may include different shifts or days as required by the facility.
  • Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and mentoring programs.
  • Ability to study for and pass the water treatment exam to obtain or upgrade certification/license.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (implied as a minimum educational requirement).
