Job Description

The Drinking Water Treatment Operator is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a highly automated surface water treatment facility, ensuring compliance and efficient plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the surface water treatment facility and remote pump stations.
  • Operate and maintain facility equipment, grounds, and process control systems.
  • Manage process data, perform routine laboratory analyses, and troubleshoot process issues.
  • Operate SCADA controls and perform computer data entry related to plant operations.
  • Respond to emergency events, alarm call-outs, and standby duties as scheduled.
  • Assist in process monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid operator certification for drinking water treatment (specific certification level not specified but must be certified to operate a drinking water treatment facility).
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of a 16 MGD Surface Water Treatment Facility or similar automated water treatment plant.
  • Ability to participate in the daily operations and maintenance of facilities equipment, grounds keeping, and process control monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in managing process data, performing routine lab analysis, and operating SCADA controls.
  • Ability to perform computer data entry and other operation and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Availability to work a full-time day shift with days of the week varying, including some weekends, and willingness to work nights with a shift differential.
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Availability for standby duty and the ability to be on-call, working days, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Response to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when necessary.
