Job Description
The Collection Systems Operations Chief oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and management of collection system facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, effective system performance, and team leadership in a field-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily operations and maintenance of collection system facilities in compliance with regulations.
- Schedule staff, provide operational direction, and ensure proper facility coverage.
- Develop and execute the capital budget and oversee capital projects.
- Prepare, review, and submit required regulatory reports, including Monthly Operating Reports (MORs).
- Maintain accurate records and utilize work management and CMMS systems.
- Coordinate and communicate with staff, clients, contractors, and engineering firms to optimize system operation.
- Perform hands-on operational tasks and ensure system efficiency and compliance.
- Train and mentor operators to enhance their performance.
- Obtain samples for analysis and ensure proper facility maintenance.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum Florida Class B collections certification, with a Florida Class A certification preferred.
- Have experience participating in and managing the daily operations and maintenance of collection system facilities in compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Be capable of scheduling staff, providing appropriate direction to staff in the operation and maintenance of facilities, and overseeing staffing coverage.
- Have experience developing and executing the capital budget and capital projects related to collection system facilities.
- Be able to oversee payroll, employee evaluations, and ensure proper facility coverage.
- Possess the ability to obtain samples for analysis and maintain accurate records.
- Have experience maintaining an open and effective relationship with customers and the community.
- Be able to train and mentor operators to perform at their full potential.
- Hold a minimum Florida Class B collections certification, with a preference for a Florida Class A certification.
- Be involved in the coordination and communication with assigned staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms to ensure effective system operation and optimization.
- Be responsible for performing hands-on work and producing all required reports related to collection system operations.
- Coordinate the ongoing daily operation of the utility system.
- Meet the physical demands of working outdoors and protecting natural resources, water.
- Be willing to work in outdoor environments and perform field duties as required.
