Job Description
The role involves developing and managing enterprise sales relationships with electric utilities to promote clean transportation solutions, driving business growth through strategic partnerships, project scoping, negotiations, and supporting market development in the utility industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop relationships with utility leaders and key accounts in the Central Eastern US regions.
- Identify, nurture, and develop new leads among major utilities for electric vehicle and grid modernization projects.
- Drive project scoping discussions, negotiate contracts, and close deals to achieve scale and rapid execution.
- Support regulatory engagement through filings and active docket participation with public utility commissions.
- Craft proposals, presentations, and sales tools to support business development efforts.
- Coordinate with internal teams on sales process improvements, product development, and policy goals.
- Support the transition of new contracts into project implementation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of full-time high-profile sales business development experience
- Successful track record of building partnerships with electric utilities OR selling enterprise software
- BA, BS, or equivalent experience required; Masters or equivalent experience preferred
- Candidates with experience in utility programs and a background in electrical engineering are encouraged to apply
- Experience with enterprise-scale utility sales and contracting
- Reside in the Central or Eastern time zone with access to a well-connected airport
- Ability to develop and execute sales strategies including identifying leads, nurturing connections, scoping projects, developing proposals, negotiating terms, and closing deals
- Ability to develop and grow relationships with utility leaders, including executives and team leaders focused on electric vehicles, distributed energy strategy, grid planning, and operations teams
- Experience in exercising indirect influence to keep projects moving in a timely and efficient manner
- Experience in driving scoping discussions with utilities to balance stakeholder needs and close deals that achieve both scale and rapid execution
- Ability to craft formal project proposals, presentation slides, and other sales tools
- Proficiency in negotiating term sheets and contracts through final signatures
- Support project management to smoothly transition new contracts into implementation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent work ethic
- Attention to detail and ability to function effectively under time pressure
- Ability to work with diverse teams and translate between various areas of expertise
- Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks in response to immediate needs
- Comfort with remote collaboration tools
- Willingness to travel when appropriate in accordance with health guidelines
