Job Description
The Senior Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for preparing and ensuring compliance of external financial statements and SEC filings, managing reporting processes, supporting audits, and overseeing accounting policies in a fast-paced, innovative technology company.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and distribution of periodic external financial statements
- Ensure compliance of reports, filings, and documentation with SEC, GAAP, and professional standards
- Oversee the preparation and review of SEC filings and supporting documentation
- Implement and disseminate new SEC and GAAP requirements across the organization
- Review contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment and support legal contract preparation
- Lead quarterly regional contract review sessions with legal and regional accounting teams
- Prepare and review ASC 606 revenue recognition checklists for contracts
- Identify, develop, and implement policies and procedures for SOX compliance
- Oversee external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Manage relationships with external systems like Workiva
Requirements
- Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience including significant experience as an independent auditor in a Big 4 firm and private industry in SEC reporting.
- Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory, project management, or team leadership experience.
- Strong current technical knowledge of accounting principles and financial disclosure requirements and techniques.
- Understanding and experience with SOX internal control requirements.
- Extensive experience in the preparation and presentation of financial statements under guidelines established by the SEC and US GAAP.
- Experience in evaluating pronouncements of the FASB and SEC and in implementing required procedures for compliance with such pronouncements.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or relevant field.
- CPA license is required.
- Ability to prepare and review accounting research and documentation supporting the accounting treatment of transactions through application of US GAAP.
- Ability to understand and implement all new SEC and GAAP requirements and disseminate to the global organization to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting.
- Ability to manage the timely preparation of all SEC filings as part of the financial reporting team.
- Ability to manage and improve the company’s reporting process and supporting infrastructure.
- Ability to support all other potential SEC filings in support of disclosures, financings, and other transactions.
- Ability to review all supporting documentation related to SEC filings.
- Ability to review all contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Ability to assist legal team during contract preparation to ensure best accounting treatment.
- Ability to lead quarterly regional contract review sessions with legal and regional accounting teams.
- Ability to prepare and review ASC 606 checklists on revenue related contracts.
- Ability to assist in the identification of policies and procedures for SOX compliance and assist in the development and implementation of such policies and procedures.
- Ability to assist with oversight of external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Ability to manage the company’s Workiva relationship.
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Sitting for extended periods of time and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, etc.
