Job Description

A senior technical role responsible for engaging with customers to ensure successful deployment and integration of general-purpose AI-driven robots, acting as a bridge between product capabilities and customer needs within Toyota Research Institute's robotics division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discover customer needs and ensure successful initial experiences with robots
  • Act as the bridge between product capabilities and customer requirements
  • Identify and address technical challenges in deploying robotic solutions
  • Collaborate with customers to tailor robotic solutions to their environments
  • Support the integration and deployment of robotics systems in customer settings

Requirements

  • Experience as a Field Solutions Architect or similar role responsible for discovering customer needs and ensuring successful first experiences with robotic products.
  • Ability to serve as the technical bridge between product potential and customer reality, effectively communicating technical solutions to customers.
  • Proven experience in developing or implementing robotic solutions, preferably involving large behavior models, machine learning, or general-purpose robots.
  • Strong understanding of robotics software development, including familiarity with open source robotics software such as Drake or similar platforms.
  • Experience in building and deploying scalable robotic systems capable of performing general mobile manipulation tasks in human-like ways and at human-like speeds.
  • Ability to operate reliably in complex, unstructured environments, demonstrating knowledge of physical interaction datasets and machine learning techniques for robot behavior learning.
  • Educational background in a relevant field such as Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large-scale datasets of physical interactions and applying machine learning to learn general-purpose robot behaviors.
  • Experience in customer discovery, requirements gathering, and translating customer needs into technical solutions within the robotics domain.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, engaging with hardware teams and robotics researchers to develop and deploy robotic solutions.
  • Physical and mental capacity to understand complex robotic systems and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
  • Knowledge of the latest advances in machine learning, AI, and robotics to inform solution development and customer engagement.

Compensation salary range: $122,400 to $183,600 per year (Massachusetts-based roles)
