Job Description
A research scientist role focused on developing AI-backed applications that integrate behavioral science, human-computer interaction, and machine learning to understand and promote carbon-neutral behaviors, involving rapid prototyping and system development within Toyota Research Institute's Human-Centered AI division.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI-backed applications to advance human-centered science.
- Collaborate with AI and behavior science experts to integrate machine learning models into live systems.
- Rapidly iterate prototypes to build robust systems.
- Leverage systems to support research across social science, psychology, user experience, HCI, and design domains.
- Lead research projects within one or more of these domains.
Requirements
- Experience in building AI-backed applications that push the boundaries of human-centered science.
- Ability to work closely with experts in AI and behavior science to integrate machine learning models into live applications.
- Comfortable iterating prototypes rapidly as they build toward the design and development of robust systems.
- Broad interests spanning social science, psychology, generative AI, user experience, human-computer interaction (HCI), and design.
- Ability to leverage systems they build to support research projects in social science, psychology, generative AI, user experience, HCI, and design.
- Ability to lead a research project in at least one of the following domains: social science, psychology, generative AI, user experience, HCI, or design.
- Educational background in a relevant field (implied, as research scientist roles typically require at least a master's degree or equivalent in a related discipline).
- Experience in research or development roles involving machine learning models and human-computer interaction (implied from the context).
