Job Description
A Robotics Intern at Toyota Research Institute will support and improve robotics research operations by maintaining lab equipment, assisting with hardware prototyping, and collaborating on data collection and documentation to enable successful robotic research and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve laboratory facilities, equipment, and workflows.
- Foster collaboration with research operations engineers to design and coordinate events.
- Enhance data collection processes and maintain testing and deployment documentation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program related to robotics, engineering, or a similar field.
- Ability to work in a hybrid in-office role for the duration of the 12-week summer internship in 2026.
- Experience working with laboratory organization tasks, including fulfilling fabrication requests, maintaining and fixing manufacturing equipment and robot systems, and improving lab workflow and tooling.
- Ability to collaborate with Research Operations Engineers to design and coordinate events, improve data collection processes, and maintain testing and deployment documentation.
- Strong communication skills to support the development of a robust communication system that enhances task instruction clarity and effectiveness.
- Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of quality metrics that provide actionable insights into task performance.
- Availability to commit to a 12-week internship during summer 2026, with a focus on supporting research hardware prototyping and operational tasks.
- Physical ability to perform tasks related to maintaining and fixing manufacturing equipment and robot systems (implied, as tasks involve physical handling and maintenance).
