A Mechanical Engineering Intern at Toyota Research Institute will contribute to the development, fabrication, and testing of robotic hardware systems, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to design, assemble, and maintain robotic components and test environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, order, and assemble robotic systems and test spaces, including structural and electromechanical components
Work closely with team members to define project requirements and support project needs
Perform rapid iteration on robot component designs
Maintain and repair robotic systems
Plan, execute, document, and communicate testing activities and results
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related degree program with at least 1 year of coursework completed or equivalent experience.
Experience or demonstrated ability in the design, fabrication, and assembly of robotic systems and test spaces, including structural and electromechanical components.
Ability to work closely across subject areas with team members to define project requirements and support project needs such as rapid iteration on robot component designs, maintenance, and repair of robotic systems.
Experience planning, executing, documenting, and communicating testing activities, including providing clear and accurate reporting of test conditions and results.
Availability to work in-office in Cambridge, MA for the duration of the 12-week summer internship in 2026.
Willingness to travel occasionally as required for the internship.
Legal authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship (implied by the location and employment context).
