A postdoctoral research position focused on developing and evaluating next-generation extended reality (XR) experiences for vehicles, utilizing generative AI and real-time video processing to enhance visual augmentation and driver-environment interaction within the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
Lead research on next-generation extended reality (XR) experiences for vehicles using generative AI and real-time video processing.
Drive the implementation and evaluation of visual augmentation and interaction technologies between drivers and their environment.
Take ownership of core technical directions related to XR and AI integration in automotive interfaces.
Collaborate closely with team members and external partners to deliver high-quality research outcomes.
Coordinate testing and validation of XR technologies through trips to test tracks.
Requirements
A researcher who can take ownership of core technical directions, drive implementation and evaluation, and coordinate closely with collaborators to deliver high-quality research outcomes.
Experience in exploring next-generation extended reality (XR) experiences for vehicles, including the use of generative AI and real-time video processing to enable new forms of visual augmentation and interaction between drivers and their environment.
Ability to design, develop, and evaluate novel human-machine interface (HMI) technologies that improve safety, well-being, and performance of drivers using human-centered artificial intelligence.
Strong technical expertise in AI, robotics, driving, or material sciences relevant to automotive applications.
Educational background with a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field such as computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or related disciplines.
Experience in implementing and evaluating AI models, real-time video processing, and visual augmentation techniques.
Ability to work in an in-office role based in Los Altos, CA, including the capability to travel to test tracks multiple times.
Experience working in a collaborative research environment with multiple stakeholders and external collaborators.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality research outcomes suitable for publication or industrial application.

Salary range between $152,000 and $218,500 per year
