Job Description
A research internship focused on developing control, modeling, and perception methodologies for high-performance vehicle driving that can infer and reason about uncertainty, involving experiments with high-performance vehicles on a racetrack.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop control, modeling, and perception methodologies for high-performance driving that infer and reason about uncertainty.
- Conduct experiments with high-performance vehicles on a closed racetrack to test and validate developed methodologies.
- Apply machine learning, optimization, and control theory techniques to enhance vehicle safety and performance capabilities.
Requirements
- Must be a research intern developing control, modeling, and/or perception methodologies for high-performance driving that infer and reason about uncertainty.
- Must be enrolled in a program related to control, modeling, perception, machine learning, optimization, or control theory, or have equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Must have the ability to apply knowledge to novel problems and develop impactful research in the field of high-performance vehicle control.
- Must be available for a paid, 12-week internship during Summer 2026.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid in-office role at Toyota Research Institute headquarters in Los Altos, CA.
- Must be able to participate in experiments with high-performance vehicles on a closed racetrack.
- Must have a full list of publications available via Google Scholar when submitting CV for the position.
