Job Description
A research internship focused on developing advanced shared control algorithms and human-AI collaboration techniques to enhance vehicle safety and performance in autonomous driving systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop novel planning and control algorithms to ensure safety in challenging driving scenarios
- Improve performance of existing shared control algorithms under uncertain conditions
- Implement data-driven machine learning approaches to shared control with safety guarantees
- Research and explore human-AI pairing methods to support safe, intuitive, and responsive shared driving systems
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related disciplines.
- Experience or demonstrated knowledge in developing novel planning and control algorithms for vehicle safety and performance.
- Experience or demonstrated knowledge in improving the performance of shared control algorithms under uncertain conditions.
- Experience or demonstrated knowledge in implementing data-driven machine learning approaches to shared control with safety guarantees.
- Ability to work on cutting-edge research related to human-AI collaboration for advanced driver assistance systems.
- Applicants must have relevant publications in the fields of machine learning, control algorithms, or human-AI interaction, and provide a link to Google Scholar when submitting their CV.
- Availability to participate in a 12-week summer internship starting in Summer 2026, with the internship being a hybrid in-office role at Toyota Research Institute headquarters.
- Willingness to work in a collaborative environment and apply knowledge to tackle novel research questions.
- Good collaboration skills as demonstrated through previous experience or projects.
