Job Description
This internship involves conducting research in AI and human-vehicle interaction for autonomous driving systems, focusing on developing innovative approaches to improve machine understanding, prediction, and long-term human-AI teaming in the context of semi-autonomous vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on AI topics related to autonomous vehicles, including multi-agent modeling, human-robot interactions, trajectory prediction, driver behavior understanding, activity recognition, shared control, and human-machine teaming.
- Develop innovative AI approaches to improve prediction, planning, and interaction between drivers and intelligent vehicles, emphasizing long-term human-AI teaming, co-adaptation, and teaching.
- Collaborate with researchers to produce publications in top-tier conferences, contributing to advancements in safety systems, semi-autonomous driving, and robotic applications.
Requirements
- Motivated interns with excellent capabilities for research in various areas of AI around autonomous vehicles and related topics.
- Experience or relevant publications in the fields of autonomous vehicles, robotics, machine learning, computer vision, or human factors literature.
- Ability to work on research topics including multi-agent modeling, human-robot interactions, trajectory prediction, driver state and behavior understanding, activity recognition, shared control, human-machine teaming interaction, and computational teaching of humans.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with researchers towards publications in top-tier conferences.
- Availability to participate in a 12-week paid internship during Summer 2026, in a hybrid in-office role at the Cambridge, MA research center.
- Ability to create innovative approaches that reframe driver and intelligent vehicle interactions, challenging traditional prediction, planning, and interaction methods.
- Capability to research and develop AI approaches focused on long-term human-AI teaming, including co-adaptation and teaching.
- Proficiency in utilizing resources and working in a research environment aimed at advancing safety systems, semi-autonomous driving systems, and robotic applications.
- Submission of a CV with a full list of publications via Google Scholar link when applying.
