Job Description
A research internship at Toyota Research Institute focused on advancing generative AI technologies for automotive product design, involving human-computer interaction, multi-agent conversation systems, and decision-making support to enhance engineering and design processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop steerable AI systems for multi-agent conversation and decision-making support in automotive product design.
- Leverage generative AI, cognitive modeling, physiological sensing, and human-computer interaction techniques to support human decision making.
- Participate in interdisciplinary research activities and team meetings within the Human-Centered AI division.
- Engage in strategy discussions to connect research outcomes to business impact at Toyota.
Requirements
- The candidate must be a highly motivated and talented PhD research intern.
- The candidate must have a strong background in Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- The candidate must have demonstrated interest in exploring novel interaction techniques at the intersection of design, generative AI, and human-AI interaction.
- The candidate must be able to develop new steerableAI systems that enable multi-agent conversation and decision-making support designed to produce actionable engineering and design insights for physical product development.
- The candidate must participate in all Human-Centered AI division meetings and Future Product Innovation group meetings.
- The candidate must be willing to engage in strategy discussions about how their research connects to business impact at Toyota.
- The candidate must be available for a Summer 2026 paid 12-week internship.
- The candidate must be able to work in a hybrid in-office role.
