Job Description
The position involves leading a team of engineers and designers in the planning, design, and management of highway infrastructure projects, providing technical mentorship, conducting quality reviews, and supporting business development efforts within a collaborative and flexible work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and managing a team of engineers, designers, and technicians on roadway and highway infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical coaching, mentorship, and conduct performance reviews for team members.
- Monitor workload distribution and allocate resources based on team members' skills and project needs.
- Develop, implement, and communicate technical specifications and standards for design projects.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews on team members' work.
- Serve as a lead engineer and project manager on various transportation projects.
- Facilitate proposal development, participate in project interviews, and engage with clients and stakeholders.
- Assist in outlining and executing market development strategies to promote services and capabilities.
Requirements
- Possess experience as a transportation engineer with progressive technical knowledge.
- Have engaging mentorship skills for leading and coaching team members.
- Be capable of conducting performance reviews and outlining professional growth and development objectives for direct reports.
- Monitor and assist with workload distribution and resource allocation based on availability, technical competencies, expertise, and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and implement technical specifications, communicate requirements to team members, and make revisions or enhancements to ensure consistency and accuracy with design standards and deliverables.
- Conduct QA QC reviews on work performed by direct reports and assist the Highway Group Manager with reviews of work performed by other lead and senior team members.
- Serve as a lead engineer on various project assignments and assume the role of project manager for significant complex projects or projects of strategic importance.
- Facilitate proposal development efforts, represent TKDA at project interviews, and engage with current and prospective client representatives at local and regional conferences as needed.
- Reside within a regular commuting distance of the Bloomington, MN office.
- Demonstrate the ability to work successfully in a hybrid work environment with flexible work arrangements (3 days in office, 2 days remote per week) by showing self-motivation, initiative, teamwork, and strong communication skills.
- Complete a standard pre-employment background screening upon acceptance of a conditional offer, including Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.
